§ 1.1. Charter.

The General Assembly hereby charters the County of Chesterfield, a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, as a county within the Commonwealth of Virginia and as such shall have perpetual succession and all other powers and responsibilities granted by this charter or general law.
