§ 6.2. Responsibilities of department heads.

  • There shall be a director at the head of each department. The director of each department, except the constitutional officers, chief of police and the county attorney, shall be appointed by the county administrator in consultation with the board in advance of such proposed appointment and such appointment shall be subject to board veto in accordance with this charter. Such directors shall serve in accordance with applicable personnel policies and may be removed by the county administrator upon advising and informing the board in advance of such decisions. The director of each department shall be chosen on the basis of his executive and administrative ability, experience and education. The director of social services and the director of mental health support services shall be appointed in accordance with this charter.
