Pursuant to Code of Virginia, § 27-98, the county shall enforce the Virginia Statewide
Fire Prevention Code promulgated by the Board of Housing and Community Development
of the Commonwealth. The provisions of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code
and chapter 10 of this Code shall be enforced by the fire marshal, or his duly authorized
representative, hereafter referred to as the "fire official", at the direction of
the chief of the county fire and EMS department.
