§ 15-31. Certificate.

  • Every person, other than a guaranty, indemnity, or fidelity and surety company doing business in the state pursuant to Code of Virginia, §§ 38.2-2400—38.2-2420, as amended, that desires to be in the business of entering into or offering to enter into bonds for others, for compensation, whether as a principal or surety, whose situs is located in the county, shall obtain a bondsman license pursuant to Code of Virginia, § 58.1-3724, from the department of criminal justice services. Any bondsman or his agent who has heretofore obtained a certificate and business license under this section and whose certificate, business license and right to act as a bondsman continues to remain in full force and effect is exempted from this requirement. The circuit court may revoke any such certificate previously issued by it for good cause.
