§ 16-1. "Public right-of-way" defined.

  • As used in this article, a "public right-of-way" shall be any street, road, avenue, alley or other right-of-way providing a means of ingress and egress to the general public or in which the general public enjoys an easement, whether opened by dedication, prescription or otherwise, and whether or not such public road has been or shall be accepted as a road by the county, except that this article shall not affect or be inconsistent with the provisions of Code of Virginia, tit. 33.1, or affect any provision of the county subdivision ordinance relating to the dedication and opening of any public right-of-way.
