§ 18-143. Cross connections prohibited.

  • (a)

    The county potable water supply system shall be designed, installed and maintained to prevent nonpotable liquids, solids or gases from being introduced into the potable water supply through cross connections or any other piping or plumbing interconnections or arrangements;

    (b)

    Every building and structure shall be constructed, equipped and maintained to eliminate or prevent the pollution or contamination of the county potable water supply system from cross connections and backflow; and

    (c)

    No person shall allow a cross connection to exist between the county potable water supply system and other systems or equipment, piping, plumbing fixture or appliance that contains water or other substances of questionable quality except when an approved backflow prevention method, assembly or device is installed, has been approved by the director, and is maintained in accordance with the applicable regulations, codes, standards and procedures.
