A dog license shall consist of a license receipt and a metal tag. The tag shall be
stamped or permanently marked to show the name "Chesterfield County," the date it
was issued and the serial number. The dog license issued pursuant to this division
is provided for the lifetime of the dog. Such license shall be valid only as long
as the animal's owner resides in the county and the animal's rabies vaccination is
kept current.
