§ 5-4. Authority to conduct periodic maintenance inspections.

The building official may periodically inspect all permanent and temporary buildings and structures (i) which are occupied, used, or intended to be occupied or used, by 20 or more persons who are employed, lodged, housed, assembled, served, entertained or instructed within the building or structure, or (ii) which are used to store hazardous materials. The building official and his designees may also periodically inspect the common areas of residential buildings and structures which contain four or more dwelling units. The authority granted under this section shall extend to equipment located in the buildings, structures or common areas that are inspected.
